Fractions


Tim spends 30 minutes on homework every night. He spends 2/3 of this time doing maths homework. How much time does he spend doing maths homework.
30  ÷ 3 = 10   2 x 10 = 20
A tree is 16 meters tall. Two years ago it was only 3/4 of the size now. How tall was it two years ago?
16 ÷  4 = 4    3 x 3 = 9
There are 15 candles shared evenly around 3/5 of the cake. How many candles must have been on the whole cake.
15 ÷  5 =3       3 x 3 = 9
Peter washed 12 cars in 4/5 of a day. How many cars did he washed in the whole day?
12 ÷  4 = 3    3 x 5 = 15




There are 21 one bananas in the container and 2/7 of them have bruises. How many of the bannana have bruises.  
21 ÷  7 = 3    3 x 2 = 6
12 students haven’t paid for the class trip that was 2/6 of the class. How many students must be in the whole class?
12 ÷ 6 = 2     2 x 2 = 4



Six of the card in my hand are black. This is 2/3 of all my cards. In total how many cards must I have in my hands?

6 ÷  3 = 2   2 x 2 = 4
Karen has washed 24 plates. This is 4/6 of the plates she must wash. In total how many plates must she wash?

24 ÷  6 = 4     4 x 4 = 16
There are 25 students in Lucy’s class and 3/5 of them are girls. How many class in Lucy's class are girls.

25 ÷  5 = 5  5 x 3 = 15
A chief has used 4 eggs from the egg tray. This is 2/8 of all in total how many eggs must have been in the egg tray?

4 ÷  2 = 2   2 x 8 = 16



Joe jumped 250cm. Her sister can jump 3/5 of this distance. How far can her sister jump?  

250 ÷  5 = 51    51 x 3 = 17
Williams family have eaten 16 ice block. That is 4/5 of the ice block in the pack. How many ice block  in the pack?

16 ÷ 4 = 4    4 x 5 = 20
